November 8th saw BBC 1Xtra partner up with Urban Development took take over Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music for their annual Industry Takeover All Dayer. The event, aimed at nurturing and developing grassroots talent, hosted 300 college students between 16-18. Supporting emerging artists and encouraging creativity through opportunity - leading industry figures including Grime MC Bugzy Malone and BBC 1Xtra Radio host Yasmin Evans, hosted panel sessions, workshops and talks throughout the day. LADY SANITY - THE RISING STAR CHAMPIONING REAL FEMALE RAP

 Birmingham's rising rap star, Lady Sanity, steps up with a killer selection of influential sounds from her home. Making waves in the UK rap scene, the young gun's musical talent has been garnering serious attention with support from Urban Development, PRS Foundation and the BBC. A testament to her undeniable talent and passion for the game, Lady Sanity took home the coveted Rated Award at the annual GRM Daily's Rated Awards just last month. Nurtured throughout years, her talent's a testament to hours spent playing guitar and composing music, inspired by the likes of Missy Elliot and Lauryn Hill. URBAN DEVELOPMENT'S PAMELA MCCORMICK HERALDED CAMPAIGNER OF THE YEAR AT WOMEN IN MUSIC AWARDS

Last week, Music Week held their fourth annual #WomenInMusicAwards, celebrating some phenomenal women who are shaping the future of the music industry. Urban Development founder and director, Pamela McCormick, was awarded Campaigner of the Year. The award stands testament to the foundation's ongoing drive to increase visibility and diversity in the industry supporting and developing grassroots talent from all walks of life. Over the last two years, Pamela has expanded the organisation with charitable arm Urban Development Music Foundation, bringing education and talent development to the countries most impoverished boroughs, and Urban Development Music - a record label and production house with studios, talent schemes and music publishing facilities. URBAN FLAMES BROUGHT HEAT TO THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL

Urban Flames stepped up to the prestigious Royal Albert Hall last Friday night with an incredible live performance as part of Music For Youth's Proms. The acclaimed youth vocal collective showcased their inimitable energy and raw talent with original material and a range of carefully selected covers. Growing from a small collective to a 22-strong ensemble with an EP release, there's no holding Urban Flames back. With plans to roll out Urban Flames into a regional collective with residential summer events, watch this space for more bright stars breaking through.
