In 1998, Trance was booming like never before. A few artists got together to write this legendary piece of work and saw it become a seminal record that would change the lives of countless dance music fans forever. Today, that masterpiece, ‘1998’, celebrates its 20th anniversary and with style with a brand-new 2018 version from Binary Finary themselves and remixes from Trance hero Mark Sixma and Spanish House/Techno maestro Dosem released on Armada Music.
Listen to Binary Finary – 1998 (20th Anniversary Remixes)
The first remix is from Binary Finary, still keeping its original style of sound but with a revised melodic remix giving the remix a fresh new twist to it. An absolute work of art. Mark Sixma’s remix of ‘1998’ is bit more fast-paced with his signature trance style. Last but certainly not least is Domes’ techno revision of ‘1998’. Much more slower, with a darker twist to the remix keeping its melodic rhythm. All three remixes are moving and a breathe of fresh air.
A true masterpiece for the dance floors around the world with commendable chart positions in the U.K. (#24 for ‘1998’ and #11 for successor ‘1999’), ‘1998’ is revamped after two decades of dance floor domination. An evergreen classic no Trance fan has ever been able to get enough of – nor ever will, this masterstroke creation from Binary Finary is about to add another twenty years to its successful reign.
Binary Finary: “We are just really humbled that the little project we started all those years ago on a Yamaha workstation is still gaining attention and music plays all these years on. We are excited to hear the new remixes being played out at events across the globe. Really exciting and truly fitting for a 20th birthday party.”

"My own history and experiences in the Techno scene inspired me to motivate people to stand up for what they think, for their opinions and rights. A lot of people say that Techno isn’t political, but why not? It can be political of course." - Ellen Allien.

What’s Up Desert Hearts Family, We’re doing something a bit different for this next EP…
The girl wandered further into the story, and, like any tale, it twisted what the girl knew to be one way, and turned it to be quite another. Dark became darker. Waters rose higher. Too high. Too fast.
Then through it, she heard a stranger’s voice say “You know you can walk on this water, right?”
“I can walk on water?” she said.
The stranger replied, “It’s your story, make it up. Make it so.“
“Well, let’s walk then,’ said the girl. “Let’s get our feet wet.” And she beckoned the Mist to follow her so they could blaze a trail to the place where anything happens if you make it so.
As Hoj and Lee Burridge began to write the first page of the story that would become Tale and Tone, they heard a song from Daso and Lutz that only redefine their need to create the new platform. They knew instantly that they had to sign the tune, even before the imprint officially came to the realization, as it stood as a perfect embodiment of their diverse tastes.
Daso and Lutz’s title track “De Libbe”, which features the delicate, worldly vocals of Arooj Aftab, is exemplary of Tale and Tone’s focus on using storytelling to showcase a wide range of sounds. De Libbe’s warm groovy and stirring vocals infuse together with tasteful intimacy as Daso and Lutz’s mastery of sonics and soundscapes are perfectly complimented by Arooj’s seductive melodies.
Daso completes the rest of the EP with “Northmorph” and “Ly,” a pairing of tunes that are equally as deft as they are sultry. While “Northmorph” builds, “Ly” conveys patience. By weaving through subtle melodies, expertly crafted percussion, and passionate atmospheres, Daso artfully crafts an EP aimed to keep dance-floors moving. Once you press play you will descend into a tranquil state-on-mind. An inspired and inspiring package from Daso - well fit for the third installment of Tale and Tone’s illustrative release calendar

"After over 10 years of making music, I felt it was a good time to stop and assess my musical journey. I didn't plan on a trilogy but I realized I had so much to say that limiting it to only one LP wouldn't get the whole story across. The first album 'Sinister Mind' reflects more the dark tendencies and tones of my sound"- Marc Houle.
Marc Houle started off the year 2017 with the launch of his three-part album series, the first trilogy came in the form of "Sinister Mind" on his own Berlin-based label Items & Things. He described the album as an autobiographical studio project, where all three parts of the album transcend through several moods and styles, showcasing each different side to Marc Houle.
Items & Things announced the first of the remix packs will be out this winter, starting with a filtered down rework of the original from hardware fan Wehbba, with an acid-inspired hook line, he delivers a thumping remix for those head down techno fans.
Expect more outstanding reworks from Chloé, Sian and one of the driving forces of the German house and techno scene; Tobi Neumann all before the end of 2017.
Release Date: 3rd November

The hype has been real with this one - from Walker & Royce incredible set at Dirtybird Campout with live vocals from Dances With White Girls (you'll remember him from ‘Take Me To Your Leader’, aka track of the summer), to Green Velvet rinsing ‘Rub Anotha Dub’ with his vocals everywhere he went this summer, to Claude and the rest of the Dirtybird's support of the records. Their long-awaited debut album Self Help has finally been released on Dirtybird Records today.
Self Help invites listeners on an out-of-mind trip through the quirks and quips of an act on the tip of modern house music’s tongue. The result is a journey whose stops are as fit for introspection as it is for peak club moments. It is this range that reveals the magnanimous personalities of Dirtybird’s new golden boys as they offer up a selection of tracks, no boundaries, no limits just boundless creativity, and sonic joy.
Gavin Royce and Samuel Walker have made a rapid recognition of fans across the globe and into the heart of the genres most sought-after label bosses of late, after linking up with Claude VonStroke in 2011 and working relentlessly to define and refine their now-signature sound.
From the three instantaneously infectious organ chords that open the lead single Take Me To Your Leader, Walker & Royce bring the listener into the distinct sonic world they’ve created, one in which the past and present collide and disparate elements are played off one another for maximum effect. In only a few short years they created a signature sound that we are all very familiar with – of modern religion’s instrument of choice – is brilliantly subverted by the eccentric, party-starting vocals of the duo’s longtime friend Dances With White Girls. The track’s switch to an intergalactic synth line lays the foundation for the album’s continued mirroring of vocals and hardware - if you listen closely, what you hear is what you get.
The magical collaborative continues with standout tracks likes Dances’ second song on the album Love & Marriage, My Own Thing featuring Sophiegrophy, the crossover vocal stylings of OnCue in Role Models, JPatt’s modern call response in Pass That, and the whispers that brings chills to your body with Why Tho and the dreamlike funk of the album’s final breath Need Ya featuring Forrest.
It is this interconnection between producer and vocalist that helps to create the deep sense of emotion felt throughout the release. Walker & Royce explore a selfless and diversely passionate style of production known by few. Their journey is one defined by such relationships and this album stands as a culmination of the highs and lows shared along the way.
Self Help puts a career-defining debut album - an immensely clever project that lures listeners in with club-ready grooves only to leave them in contemplation. Walker & Royce invite you to get lost in the flowing constructs of their imagination while they search for the constantly evolving remedy of Self Help.
