Dirtybird Campout East Coast overcame opticals, and did the impossible
Head Counselor Claude VonStroke has assembled All Your Favorite DJs In The World for the debut DIRTYBIRD Campout East landing in St Cloud Florida February 2nd — 4th. Campers from across the East and beyond will be migrating South for a weekend of fun activities, infinite laughs, and of course all-night dance-floor shenanigans soundtracked by VonStroke’s all-star line-up.
The second phase of artists for this wild weekender in February has just been announced, adding to an already jam-packed collection of elite selectors from around the globe. Campers will be treated to the return of Claude VonStroke and Green Velvet’s tag-teaming alias Get Real along with solo sets from both, plus DIRTYBIRD golden-boys and new fan favorites Brooklyn’s Walker & Royce, G-House specialist Destructo, techno giant Louisahhh, ENTER artist Lee K, Brighton tech house stars Prok & Fitch, Main Course maestro Bot, New York house icon Hector Romero, as well as rising Dirtybird talent like Sébastien V, Dateless, Vangelis Kostoxenakis, Sao Paolo’s Danny Kolk and more.
Campout has always been about more than four-on-the-floor and the left-of-center programming has been bolstered by the likes of drum n’ bass legends Ivy Lab and LTJ Bukem featuring MC Armanni plus, electro-jazz artist Persian Empire, Future Classic duo Biyo, plus one of the moonshot favorites from Campout West who shut down the Family Set with the biggest breaks tune of the weekend, Ryan Forever.
Early Arrival Pass-holders will be a treated to a Thursday Night Party featuring none other than an undisputed leader of the global house and techno community and overall madman Seth Troxler.
While this may be its biggest musical offering to date, Campout is defined by its off dance-floor programming. East Coast Campers will be treated to a plenty of nostalgic fun. With more than sixty activities they may find themselves shooting a bullseye at archery, straining sinews during Tug-O-War, Kick Ball or a Sack Race, munching on S'mores, taking center stage during the Campout Talent show, Camper Open Mic, Beat Boxing Competition or Late Night Bingo, all while competing alongside their Camper Color Teams for the famed Ironbird Trophy.
The East Coast location has no dust and is a lush green, tropical paradise, with nine distinct ecosystems, meadows for dance-floors, all surrounded by Florida waters. The location is an actual working Summer Camp, an easy drive from either Miami or Orlando. DIRTYBIRD Experience Packages have also been released and can be purchased HERE.

It was day 3 at Dirtybird Campout in Bradley, California - it was dirty, dusty, just like the desert weather.
Through the mountains and trees of the Californian lands, nestled through the hills is a place for adults to relive their childhood as well as hang out and play fun sports and actives with some of their favorite artists. A place where people can forget about all your troubles and worries in the world, a place to just have fun and be able to dance away your frustrations. This isn't any ordinary camping music festival where you get weird with your friends and go off to see your favorite musical act. Dirtybird Campout is more than that, its where you actually interact with your favorite DJs from the Dirtybird label, including label boss and Head Counselor Claude VonStroke. Fifteen years ago when Barclay Crenshaw first created Dirtybird Campout he never imagined how big it would be today in 2017.
Having the chance to cover Dirtybird Campout for the first time ever, not knowing what to expect it was one of the greatest camping festivals ever. Having the chance to interact with your favorite musical artists as well as the production and crew for the festival. The vibes were magical, the people were extremely giving and friendly, with the only thing on everyone’s mind was have an extremely fun and epic weekend. Which took place this past weekend on October 5th through 9th.

With more than 60 new ways to recreate those magical campout memories, attendees were encouraged to sign up for one of four colored teams, Claude was on the green team. Dirtybird Campout offered actives such as 3 Legged Races, Dodgeball with Will Clarke or the newly installed Tour de Dance cycle race, as well as witnessing Claude VonStroke dominating in every camping activity like Tug O War and water balloon contest taking another win for the Green team. Dirtybird attendees were able to show off their skills in the Talent Contest, Karaoke, Stand-Up Comedy, Dance and Movement classes, or Wood & Totem Carving Workshops, and the bookworms can lay down some knowledge in the Science LaB. Playing in the hot intense heat but people still participated with the Orange team winning in the end.

The early birdies with Early Arrival Passes were allowed to enter the campgrounds on Thursday, we were allowed to get to know the campgrounds first hand as well as meet extremely kind new friends. We were lucky enough to snag an awesome spot surrounded by awesome people who were part of the production crew as well as camp counselors. Campers were fresh and ready for Day 1 to hit the dance floors or game fields.

Day 1 we awoke to trumpets and a small opening ceremony at the MainStage which was called The Birdhouse. The first official day of Dirtybird Campout was jam-packed with an impressive lineup with Don Rimini, and Lauren Lane turning up the heat at The Birdhouse. Behind the Birdhouse was a press lounge area for the artists and media, attendees were allowed to enter if they purchased the Backstage Party Pass. The lounge area had couches with its own bar. Over by the Bass Lodge was Desert Hearts presents Mikey Lion B2B Porkchop, giving an extraordinary, exuberant fun set. From everyone dancing on stage to the entire crowd bouncing to tunes from the Desert Hearts family - giving off their fun party vibes like they do at every Desert Hearts event. Behind the Bass Lodge was its own media lounge area where media and artists can lounge and vibe out to the groovy tunes. When the red-hot fire sun begins to set and the yellow moon begins to rise over the hills and trees our inner animal comes out. Seeing almost everyone in a onesie to their inner animal as we yelp and howl to every bass drop that Kill Frenzy made with Will Clarke during their back-to-back set. Still hyped from their set Danny Daze takes the decks with a dark and funky set. Label boss and Head Camp Counselor Claude VonStroke closed The Birdhouse with another perfect set with favorites like ‘The Rain Break’, 'Barrump', and newest single ‘Tiny Tambourine’. Christian Martin closes the Bass Lodge with a memorable set leaving the campers wanting more even though it was 4 am. It was very difficult to try to get some sleep during the weekend. Once again the sun begins to rise again, and by 10 am you can’t even bear to stay in your tent (if you bought a tent and not an RV).

Day 2, Saturday rolls around with games and actives, and Press Day. Press and media had the opportunity to partake in an exclusive conference having the chance to meet some of the Dirtybird crew like Walker & Royce, Will Clarke, Kill Frenzy, and Barclay Crenshaw. As well as the DoLab crew. During the interview with VonStroke, he spoke about how much Dirtybird Campout changed and being the first the hear about Dirtybird Campout East Coast edition which will take place during February 2-4 somewhere in Florida. Later that night Barclay Crenshaw was set to performance and was asked what he was going to play in his set, “very funky and weird stuff you just have to wait and find out”. Barclay once again thanked everyone that was apart of the festival. Over by The Birdhouse were DJ E-CLYPS, Cut Snake, Sonny Fodera, Gene Farris, and Coyu taking over the decks during the daytime hours. Walker & Royce make their anticipated performance. Playing everyone’s favorites such as ‘Rub Anotha Dub’ feat. Green Velvet and ‘Take Me To Your Leader’ featuring a live performance from Dances With White Girls, I guessed he was sipping on a little too much tequila but it was still listed as top favorite sets. There was also Claude VonStroke playing as himself - Barclay Crenshaw if you have never seen him as Barclay you are completely missing out. Giving off an underground hip/hop Detroit feel to it while adding hardcore basslines and wasn’t lying when he said “funky and weird” because it was just that, making the entire crowd jump and move, grown and wow at every drop. Setting the bar high for Bass Lodge that night. Following was Shades (Alix Perez + Eprom), DJ Marky, and Martin Brothers which was a real treat. Justin Martin closes The Birdhouse with a dreamful and tranquil set with favorites like his remix to Henry Krinkle - 'Stay', which is an absolute favorite and ‘Hello Clouds’. Justin Martin was also a top favorite set.

Day 3, Sunday and final day, the final day for games and activities and final day to take pictures and to snag interviews with artists. Which consists of that, everyone was dirty little birdies from dancing in the dust balls we’ve created by our feet. Breathing in all the dust, we tried to cover our faces with bandanas and scarfs. The Birdhouse lineup consists of Amtrac, the sloth Sacha Robotti starting off the crowd hot and heavy. After was Chris Lorenzo, and Matthew Dear who was dark and funky throughout his entire set, he paused for a moment and said “this matters… forget all other stuff out there because THIS MATTERS”. There was a special back-to-back performance by Jesse Rose and Riva Starr. They have completely wowed the crowd with house favorites, as Claude VonStroke makes his way to the stage he said that this was their last time playing west coast together. It was a very riveting and memorable set another top favorite set. Shiba San was incredible and captivating as well as Eats Everything who was delightful and fulfilling. Bass Lodge was nothing but drum n bass - no boundaries, no limits just scratches of vinyl and bass. Fisher had the crowd moving like animals in a zoo with his set then came Mija with Netsky & Ryan Forever, closing the night was Bleep Bloop and one of the most anticipated musical act - MADLIB. Completely leaving the crowd in a hypnotic and seductive state, closing night was wild full of fun and interesting encounters.
When it was Monday, we packed our belongings and said our goodbyes to the new friends we’ve made. Most of them were from the West Coast saying “you’ll have a place to stay if you come visit me in L.A.”

Out of all of the days, Day 2, Saturday was the best between Press Day and artist performances, as well as hanging out with the crew of people I was with. We thank everyone who was a part of Dirtybird Campout, and big thank you to DoLab and Infamous PR, and special thank you to the artists who gave their spectacular performances. An absolute thank you to all the new friends, you all truly made the experience memorable. Until Dirtybird East Coast edition I’ll see all dirty birdies soon.
DIRTYBIRD has been dropping basslines and creating smiles on the dance-floor since January 2005. At Dirtybird Campout in California, that’s exactly what happened. On Saturday, October 7th was Press Day where Barclay Crenshaw made a special announcement about an East Coast Dirtybird Campout edition. “It’s going to be where they are alligators and oranges” - said Barclay Crenshaw during the press conference. Dirtybird Campout East Coast edition will be held in the Sunshine state on February 2nd - 4th, 2018.

“All your favorite DJs in the world” on one campground. They will do their best to try to bring the great vibes along with the Dirtybird crew a short list includes Justin Martin, Catz 'n Dogz, Julio Bashmore, Riva Starr, Breach, Shiba San, Eats Everything, J Phlip, Style of Eye, Kill Frenzy, and much more... most of whom had their very first records and even created their artist names for the label. Along with the fun camp activities and hopefully not too much dust, but that’s what being a DIRTYBIRD is all about. Making new friends, witnessing breathtaking DJ sets, and having the chance to be a kid again. Stay tuned for more announcements on Dirtybird Campout East Coast edition and be sure to sign up so you can be the first to purchase your camping passes.
