Time Warp USA Returns [Event Review]

After a full week of recovery, its time to discuss the epic return of Time Warp. The world’s greatest techno event hailing from Mannheim the only festival where technology and music are combined to create the greatest techno experience ever. For the first time in five years, Time Warp returns to New York for a two-day event with the help of party promoters Teksupport. It all took place at the Bronx Expo Center last weekend November 22nd and 23rd. It was 19-hours of pure emotion and raw energy on the dance floor.

The set-up was two floors with two huge dance-floors, multiple bars and VIP areas for attendees. The coat check was not organized at all, when we first arrived it was closed off because it was overfull, there was only one coat check for this massive event. We went back to see the line and was open again, then discovered it was $8 and turned away. The line at the end of the event was even longer and unorganized. However, the music, production, and sound-system made up for the hassle.

The first night was wild and insane, arriving at the end of Reinier Zonneveld’s set. When first walking in my jaw dropped to the floor and the production was phenomenal. Pushing boundaries to another level, Teksupport did a fantastic job with sound, location, lineup, and recreation. Spreading across two floors and pure techno each artist played to their fullest. Some of the best sets of all time at a techno event. The phones were always out taking videos and pictures from the setup and lights. At times it was overwhelming from the incredible techno and production. Even though it was extremely crowded it was easy to move around the Expo Center, attendees were able to go in and out for toilets, food, and going to the second floor. Pan-Pot played on the first floor, dancing up front and center for the German duo. It was hard to leave to see other artists play because of Pan-Pot being so good. It was time for the return of Ricardo Villalobos, first time playing in the U.S. in 5 years! There was such a huge line to get to him it wasn’t worth waiting in the cold. Waiting to kill time at Richie Hawtin, after 20-30 mins we returned to the second floor to witness Ricardo Villalobos. The production on the second floor was completely different on the first floor, lights shooting down, felt like you were being transported or looking into what heaven may look like. It was absolutely mind-blowing, only unfortunate was Ricardo Villalobos’ performance guess the expectations were very high. Richie Hawtin cured everything is incredibly dark and seductive set one of the best of the night and weekend. Closing out with Belgian techno titan, Amelie Lens, her set was fast, powerful the definition of techno music. Everyone dancing and moving to her energetic set all the way to 7 AM. The sun was rising and it was time to go and be fresh ready for the second night.

Night two started off late but ended perfectly. Arriving in time for my personal favorite, Maceo Plex. Playing an uplifting and vibrant set with tracks like ‘Solitary Daze’, and ‘Love Somebody Else’ it was the best set of the night. Again front and center for Maceo Plex and then Loco Dice to close out. Both artists were dancing to the music you can feel the love and vibes from them and the entire crowd. Loco Dice played a fun set to close out Time Warp USA edition, everyone was dancing all around. Checking out Russian techno artist Nina Kraviz on the second floor, with her music and lights moving together in perfect harmony it brought tears to my eyes. Closing out with Loco Dice, for the last remaining minutes. Everyone applauded and cheered at the end, it was bittersweet and unbelievable how quick the weekend went. However, it will be one of the most memorable weekends ever.

It has already been announced that Time Warp will return to the States in 2020, bringing the same technology, vibes, and imagination to create another spectacular weekend with the techno community in the New York region. Most people claimed that this year Time Warp was better than the one held five years ago. It was an incredible experience getting a look at what Time Warp is all about, now wanting to go the one in Germany even more from the entire event.

When Titans Collide - Adam Beyer x Cirez D Perform in Brooklyn

It’s been a couple of days and the burns still hurts from all the dancing, when techno titans Adam Beyer and Cirez D the darker alter ego of Eric Prydz came to Brooklyn for their back-to-back performance this past weekend. After seeing their performance in Miami last Winter Music Conference, never prayed until then, that day they will return to blow the minds of techno lovers away. Once the techno icons announced their four colossal shows in two major cities, every fan of both artists and music were there.

Adam Beyer who’s the mastermind behind Drumcode Records, Drumcode Radio, and among other creations. Eric Prydz also known by his aliases Pryda and Cirez D created multiple albums and labels, to show all sides of talent and purity of his different style of sounds. Back in 2009 both Adam and Prydz performed for the first time at Exit Festival fast forward almost a decade later with music evolving and techno becoming more popular it was only a matter of time that the two will fuse once again.

With the help from Teksupport, the leading event company that provides the solution for the best techno and house functions. The double show event took place at a new location, in the Brooklyn burro at a Navy Yard warehouse. Once arrived it looked as if you stepped into another country where you see in pictures from famous clubs and warehouses around the world such as London’s Printworks. Without the disco ball and it’s as if you were at the famous Printworks - Teksupport completely outdid themselves with choosing the perfect location and production. Mix with the music provided by the Swedish music idols it was the greatest and best techno show this entire year and completely blew away all expectations. The massive warehouse was big enough for everyone to move around and dance. The warehouse had multiple levels, the second level was for VIP and table service. This new location is the Brooklyn version of London’s Printworks. Not sure if it was because of the crowd, or the location or the chance to dance with all my friends but last weekend’s Adam Beyer x Cirez D duel performances was even better than at Soho Studios in Miami.

Night one was on Friday, November 30th, where local techno hero Avision and techno and progressive house producer Cristoph opened for this epic event. Avision served the crowd the perfect techno set of tunes. Producer and techno titan Cristoph was the second opening act. From listening to his Consequence Of Society podcasts and an avid fan and follower of the talented it was a magical sight and privilege to watch Cristoph perform for the first time. Mixing his creative tracks into a blissful set, warming up the crowd the perfect opening set for the main attraction.

The crowd got very quiet, waiting for their minds to be blown away, not sure to what to expect. It was time for Adam Beyer x Cirez D to take over the decks. When they appeared on stage the entire warehouse roared with excitement and joy. Lights flashing, the bass vibrating with a force like none other. They opened with Multicellular by Enrico Sangiuliano, the same way back in Miami which was surprising. A little melodic, but euphoric. After the first few minutes both Adam and Cirez D continued to pull everyone into the dark hole that they created with their powerful set. There were a few unreleased IDs so it was somewhat difficult to tell who was playing what until Eric Prydz dropped a few Cirez D tracks such as Dare U, Envelopes, and Century Of The Mouse. Adam Beyer played a couple of tracks from Drumcode including No World Order from Boxia. Both Adam and Cirez D played for a solid three hour set, and the end people were cheering and screaming for more. Until night two.

Night two was on Saturday, December 1st, and was the better and daker night. The production and lights were on a different level, more of it! The track-list for night two was consumed with darker tracks, giving off a somber vibe to the crowd. Beginning with their set for night two was Bart SkilsBells of the Revolution, continuing the set with Adam Beyer’s collaboration with Layton Giordani and Green Velvet Space Date. Again, there were a lot of ID’s in the dark set so it was difficult to pick out the artist until Your Mind was dropped and everyone lost their minds when it happened. On night two was more for exploring the Navy Yard warehouse to other levels, getting the full spectrum of the event. The night got even more obscure when Cirez D played his infamous Backlash track as well as Veerus’ track Phase which was wild. With a few untitled tracks from Cirez D and a few tracks from Drumcode such as 5 Mars from Julian Jeweil. Green and red lights flashing everywhere creating the mood and stimulants perfectly. The night was soon closing to an end, as they closed with Radiohead’s Everything In Its Right Place (Andi Müller Looong Mix) - tears streaming down as the drop came feeling every emotion knowing that the night was almost over, wanting this moment to last forever. Everyone clapping, whistling, cheering for the party of the year.

From the beginning of the year to now, out of all New York shows that was covered Adam Beyer x Cirez D two-night event was the greatest ever. Combined with the production and the two techno favorites coming together once again for mind-blowing show in Brooklyn dancing the night away with all my friends. It was truly the party of the year and an event that will talked about for generations to come.

Circoloco NYC: Halloween Weekender [Event Review]

On October 27th - 28th Teksupport joined forces to bring back one of the greatest parties in the world to Brooklyn, NY - Circoloco. The two-day Halloween event with sets from industry titans like Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers, Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, and Damian Lazarus

The warehouse was jam-packed with sexy devils, waddling penguins, and cute couple costumes all groovy out to the Circoloco DJs. The sound of Circoloco has slowly evolved and developed through paths of association with tribal and minimal but has always held the truest values of house music at its core. Now, the new era rips up the rulebook once again and sees a new generation of future heroes attempting to stamp their claim as the next Circoloco legend.

Circoloco.jpg

Surrounded by red neon Circoloco signs filling the room, giving off a devilish vibe. Starting off the night with SOSSA, then Dj Tennis took over the decks, Just as the night was getting freaky Damian Lazarus for an epic set. The Martinez Brothers kept the party going with their funky set. Loco Dice leads us into the morning with his closing set. Everyone’s performances were dark and dirty but powerful and moving.

The layout of the warehouse was big enough room so people could dance the night away. Partygoers were able to go outside as well to get fresh air and mingle. There were good vibes all around, people smiling and dancing together. Drinks were flowing and people groovy to the beats. Another successful party from Teksupport and Circoloco.

Be sure to check out the after movie!
